Zine Workshop with Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention Center

This was a closed workshop with youth from the Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention Center. Zines created during this workshop are on display now at the Bridge PAI & will be available for purchase (with proceeds benefiting the BRJD students) at this year's zine fest.

Join us for Zines for Change!, a free zine-making workshop led by local artist and disability justice advocate Jess Walters. During this workshop, participants will learn how zines can creatively engage with political issues and will have the chance to create their own educational, informational, or inspirational collage-style zines to scan, print, and send to local legislators (if desired).
All necessary workshop materials will be provided. The workshop is limited to 25 participants.
CUT LOOSE: Collage Zine-making with Mary Lamb & Sarah Lawson
Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 (Welcome Gallery, New City Arts)
Join collage artists and zinemakers Mary Lamb and Sarah Lawson to learn the basics of zine construction, hear about the role of zines in their collage practices, and make your own eight page zine using elements of collage.
Basic zine making materials including collage material, paper, scissors, and glue will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring additional materials they might like to use or share.
Advance registration is required, as space is limited. Masks are also required; please stay home if you feel sick.
